2021/22 EPL Predictions Part 2

Saturday Special (2).png

Continuing on from yesterday, here is our predicted top 10 of the 2021/22 EPL season:

Aston Villa.png

10th: Aston Villa (Last Season: 11th)

Despite the departure of Jack Grealish to Manchester City, Aston Villa have used the space to bring in three quality players including Danny Ings. The Villas have a big opportunity to build on their 11th placed finish last season and potentially move their way into to the top 10 for the first time since 2010/2011 season if they find the right level of form.

Week 1 Result: L 3-2 Vs Watford (A); Week 2 Match: Vs Newcastle (H)

Everton.png

9th: Everton (Last Season: 10th)

Personally, I want a better finish for Everton, but realistically around the bottom of the top 10 is what looks likely for Everton. The Toffees come into the season with their sixth different permanent manager in 8 years following the departure of David Moyes in 2013. There is always something building around Everton and with a strong squad they could contend for continental qualification but need to improve on the little errors they tend to make

Week 1 Result: W 3-1 Vs Southampton (H); Week 2 Match: Vs Leeds (A)

West Ham.png

8th: West Ham (Last Season: 6th)

The Hammers qualified for the Europa League thanks to their sixth placed finish in the 2020/21 season on the final day. Though this season, West Ham will have a tougher task in trying to keep their European hopes alive with their workload and a sense of a somewhat weakened squad with the departure of Jesse Lingard. How David Moyes manages his squad through European Competition with only one true number nine will also be of interest.

Week 1 Result: W 4-2 Vs Newcastle (A); Week 2 Match: Vs Leicester City (H)

Arsenal.png

7th: Arsenal (Last Season: 8th)

It must be pretty embarrassing to be called out by the President of Rwanda over your performance and that is what Arsenal is facing after last week’s defeat to Brentford. The Gunners have made some excellent signings in the past few days which will help them but they have been on a slide and will need to find a lot more if they want to challenge the top 6.

Week 1 Result: L 2-1 Vs Brentford (A); Week 2 Match: Vs Chelsea (H)

Leicester City.png

6th: Leicester City (Last Season: 5th)

After their shock win in the 2015/16 Premier League season, the Foxes have continued around the top 10 and in the past two seasons have finished fifth in the Premier League. The Foxes are able to show form through the early to mid-season before they falter in the second half of the competition. A couple of handy transfers will help the Foxes but they are still a side that are unlikely to reach the top 4 again any time soon.

Week 1 Result: W 1-0 Vs Wolverhampton (H); Week 2 Match: Vs Norwich (A)

5th: Tottenham (Last Season: 7th)

The Jose Mourinho era is over at Tottenham and there is a sense of relief that it has happened given Mourinho’s effects on the Spurs squad. There is plenty of talent in the squad lead by Harry Kane but the issue is that Spurs are a team that promise the world and that almost every season could be the one they go top in but never do. The similar happens here as they look a step down from the top 4 teams of the competition.

Week 1 Result: W 1-0 Vs Manchester City (H); Week 2 Match: Vs Wolverhampton (A)

Liverpool.png

4th: Liverpool (Last Season: 3rd)

There is just something about Liverpool that make me question whether they are still are top two team. The Reds will be boosted by the return of crowds to Anfield which has made a difference to their performances last season in all honesty. The concern for Liverpool is that they will lose a number of key players including Mo Salah for a period during the African Cup Of Nations which will hurt them significantly.

Week 1 Result: W 3-0 Vs Norwich City (A); Week 2 Match: Vs Burnley (H)

3rd: Manchester City (Last Season: 1st)

A dominant winner of the Premier League last season, the Citizens are focussing on their Champions League aspirations this season which probably pushes their EPL hopes down a strong notch. The addition of Jack Grealish will be a benefit but not sure that they have the quality of the likely top two sides and the return of crowds probably hinders City compared to the benefit it has to the other sides.

Week 1 Result: L 1-0 Vs Manchester City (A); Week 2 Match: Vs Norwich (H)

Chelsea.png

2nd: Chelsea (Last Season: 4th)

Packed with class all over the park, Chelsea have it all and are definite contenders for the EPL title this season. Undefeated against the top sides last season, Chelsea will be confident that they can have a similar season and having the best defensive record will help them significantly. The addition of Romelu Lukaku for a second stint at Stamford Bridge will be a help for the Blues who did slightly look weak in attack prior to his signing.

Week 1 Result: W 3-0 Vs Crystal Palace (H); Week 2 Match: Vs Arsenal (A)

Manchester United.png

Winners: Manchester United (Last Season: 2nd)

Am I falling into Opening Weekend hype? Quite possibly but it was hard to be anything but impressed by United’s performance over Leeds last week with their 5-1 demolition. The signings of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane will boost the Red Devils significantly and it’s already been shown that Paul Pogba will play a major role. The concern will be the time without Marcus Rashford as he recovers from surgery, but there is plenty to be impressed about the Red Devils for sure.

Week 1 Result: W 5-1 Vs Leeds (H); Week 2 Match: Vs Southampton (A)

So that’s our Predictions for the 2021/22 EPL season and no doubt that there will be teams surprising everyone this season both good and bad but what do you think? Let us know in the comments.
